A Little Starry Night Music

A Little Starry Night Music explores a dreamscape full of natural and supernatural mysteries. Beginning with reflections on the night sky, composers Mari Alice Conrad, Edward Enman, and Patricia Morehead evoke a sense of wonder at the vastness of space as seen from Earth. With Daniel Mehdizadeh’s Ritual and Georges Aperghis’ Retrouvailles we are transported to the surreal with phenomena from beyond this realm. In Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Fantasia we continue to flow through an imagined fantasy world filled with chocolate fountains, balmy nights, and a bustling street market (at least that’s how Edana sees it!). Nearing the end of the dream, Jocelyn Morlock’s driving and rhythmic Spirit Gradient captures something boisterous and capricious and contains it (or not!), before we finally experience a peaceful rest in Brahms’ classic Lullaby.
